What is It? A Specter, a sense of hidden unease, haunts a small, prosperous Midwestern town in 1947. Is that It? That true man - President Truman - failed to pass a healthcare plan - is that It? The townspeople are listening - for The Signal. Is that It? What is It? How can they detect It? Can they reflect It? Can they connect to It? Should they get closer, or stay away? Who really can say?

Everybody knew It, Nobody could know It
Some turn to sport; others are frenzied; others have a religious need; nobody has gone to court - unless you consider each person's private sanctum as a court of last resort. Quiet discernments abound, doubt and uncertainty reverberate, and resound. Each character, in his or her own personality, wants to know It - confronts the specter, the shadow - has to decide whether to get near It, or flee from It - if anyone knows what It is.
